General Volunteer Application (Lake) - 2025

Lake Community YMCA

Volunteers are essential to everything we do at the Y. Across the country, people of all ages and backgrounds give their time to support healthier, stronger communities. Their impact helps individuals thrive—physically, mentally, and socially. YMCA volunteers are a force for good in local communities and beyond. Whether you're mentoring youth, supporting wellness programs, or helping at events, there's a volunteer role for you at the Y. Our volunteers are involved in nearly every aspect of the Ys services and operations. They strengthen our leadership by serving on our boards; they help us fundraise by leading our annual and capital campaigns; and they transform lives each day by serving as youth coaches, mentors, class instructors and leaders in our Y facilities and in the community. Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Y!

A foundational commitment of the Y is to provide a healthy atmosphere for the growth and development of children. The Y aims to promote a positive, nurturing environment while protecting consumers, employees, and volunteers. The YMCA of Central Stark County has a zero tolerance policy in place and will not tolerate the mistreatment or abuse of consumers in its programs. With this in mind, volunteers are categorized as either High-Access or Low-Access and depending on the nature of the position, specific requirements in screening, training, and supervision are conducted prior to beginning service. NOTE: For purposes of these policies, the term “consumer” is used to describe all vulnerable populations of people, with emphasis on youth (anyone under age 18) that we serve at our YMCA locations and in our programs.

We understand circumstances may change, so if you are not able to volunteer any longer, please let our Program and/or Executive Director know, so that we can update our positions, needs, and schedules. Thank you for communicating any changes in a timely manner!
