Volunteer coaches play a crucial role at the YMCA, providing more than just skill development on the field. They create a safe and supportive environment and act as a positive role model for our youth! Our volunteers help to instill values like teamwork, sportsmanship, and determination along the way. By dedicating just a few hours each week, volunteer coaches have the power to make a significant difference in a child’s life! Responsibilities may include coaching or assisting with practices and games, teaching fundamental skills, and encouraging good sportsmanship. Volunteers may provide mentorship and help athletes build confidence, teamwork, and discipline. Sports volunteers may assist with equipment inventory, setting up and cleaning up fields and courts, and organizing participants. Volunteers also embody and teach the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Sports volunteers should maintain a safe environment by creating a positive and inclusive experience for all participants. Our YMCA staff will provide training, equipment, and resources to help volunteers feel prepared.
